The People's Visual Record
Be a part of the movement to preserve our history before it disappears.

Across the country, history is being erased—photos deleted, books banned, exhibits censored.
In response, the Visual Truth Matters campaign has launched a people-powered movement to preserve our nation’s history before it disappears.
At the center of this work is The People’s Visual Record: a living archive built by everyday people who refuse to let our American history be rewritten. It’s the foundation of our fight to preserve what matters most.
We believe history belongs to all of us, and right now, it’s up to all of us to protect it. Through this growing archive, we’re reclaiming the power to tell our stories—in our own words and images—and to preserve the truth for future generations.

This archive is powered by two distinct story-gathering campaigns. Explore them below and share your story to help safeguard American history.
The People’s Visual Record of Military Service
Veterans, service members, and their families can share stories, photos, or videos from any branch, role, or era to preserve the realities, sacrifices, and achievements of military life.
These campaigns are open to everyone—no matter your gender, race, background, or political views. Whether you contribute to one campaign or both, each submission adds another piece to the public record and strengthens it against erasure. You’ll find multiple prompts in each campaign, and you can answer as many or as few as you like.
If you care about truth and memory, your story matters. And your story belongs here.

Your story will live on in The People's Visual Record
This is more than an archive—it’s a safeguard against erasure. Every photo, video, and personal reflection you share helps build a richer, more truthful record for all to see, and makes it harder for history to be rewritten.
The People’s Visual Record will be displayed here as it grows, preserving the truth in the stories and images of those who lived it. By sharing your story now, you help lay the foundation for a living archive that will inform and inspire generations to come.
The archive display is coming soon. Be among the first to help fill it.
