The People's Visual Record & Voices Against Erasure

Be a part of the commitment to preserve our visual history before it disappears.

Across the country, history is being erased—photos deleted, archives purged, exhibits censored. In response, the Visual Truth Matters campaign is launching a people-powered movement to preserve our visual history before it disappears.

At the center of this work is The People’s Visual Record—a living archive built by everyday people who refuse to let our American history be rewritten. This is the preservation arm of the campaign.

While we strongly believe it shouldn’t fall to the public to build a visual record of American history, the Visual Truth Matters campaign is stepping in to do just that. We believe visual history belongs to all of us, and right now it’s up to all of us to protect it.

This archive is powered by two distinct story-gathering campaigns. Explore them below, share your story, or amplify voices that need to be heard.

The People’s Visual Record of Military Service

Veterans, service members, and their families can submit stories, photos, or reflections from all branches, roles, and eras.

The People’s Visual Record of American History

We can share personal or inherited stories across all aspects of American history.

These campaigns are open to everyone—no matter your gender, race, background, or political views. If you care about truth and memory, your voice belongs here.

Voices Against Erasure

Submit a written or video testimony about why this fight matters—and what you want lawmakers and the media to hear.

Your story will live on in The People’s Visual Record: a core initiative of the Visual Truth Matters campaign fighting to protect our history and preserve the truth.
